John Doerr has directed venture capital funding to some of the world’s most famous technology firms including Compaq, Netscape, Symantec, Sun Microsystems, Amazon, Intuit and Google. Additionally, John serves on President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board to provide the President and his administration counsel on addressing America’s recent economic downturn.
John has now turned his attention to sustainability and the world his daughters will inherit. That conscientious attitude and a deep rooted commitment to improving the human condition ultimately led John to investigate the options for bringing real alternative energy solutions to market. He reached the conclusion that green technology is not only the key to solving our energy crisis – but also a tremendous business opportunity, with potential market sizes for this kind of clean technology ranging from hundreds of billions to more than one trillion dollars. On the heels of successful investments in the KPCB Green Growth Fund, including BloomEnergy, MiaSole and Amyris – John is now dedicated to helping Renmatix deliver the bridge that finally enables large scale bioindustrialization.
