Former Pennsylvania Governor Joins Renmatix Executive Team

Mark Schweiker appointed Chief Relationship Officer at growing biochemical company

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pennsylvania – February 9, 2012 — Renmatix, a leading cellulosic sugar producer for global biochemical and biofuels markets, today announced that Mark S. Schweiker has joined the company as Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Relationship Officer (CRO) in a cross functional role that will lead stakeholder relations across the value chain, including public affairs. Schweiker is the former Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and previously served as the president and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

“Renmatix is an engine for growth in Greater Philadelphia and will support American rural economies that can leverage abundant biomass to supply and produce biobased materials,” said Schweiker. “Pennsylvania led the industrial revolution 100 years ago, and I am optimistic that we will see the next revolution sprout from our chemical industry footings. This is Pennsylvania at its finest, and companies like Renmatix are our future.”

In his new role, Schweiker will develop and drive initiatives with public and private sector stakeholders across several business areas, including site selection for production facilities, financial partnerships, sustainable feedstock procurement, and commercial programs. Schweiker will play a critical role in accelerating corporate development in the United States as well as Renmatix’s international development.

“Mark Schweiker typifies the kind of exceptional leadership profile that we’ve been able to attract with our vision of delivering affordable cellulosic sugar to market,” said Mike Hamilton, Renmatix chief executive officer. “Mark’s perspective as a former governor and long-standing business leader offers the right mix of commercial instinct and skills that will be essential to Renmatix as we turn a corner toward construction of our commercial plants and continue expanding our customer base.”

Prior to joining Renmatix, Schweiker served as the 44th Governor of Pennsylvania and as the 28th Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2001. Following his departure from the governor’s office, Schweiker served as president and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce where he led a business advocacy organization of nearly 5,000 member companies and organizations. Through Schweiker’s leadership, the Chamber successfully financed and launched the economic development firm Select Greater Philadelphia. Promotion of the advanced materials industry stands as a key pursuit for Select, with more than 36,000 Greater Philadelphia residents employed in the science and chemical sector.

Most recently, Schweiker served as president of PRWT Business Process Solutions, which provides innovative large-scale back-office operational services, consultation, and technical support to clients in business and government, and as a senior advisor for the Government & Public Affairs practice of the law firm Stradley Ronon. He also served as a member of the BioAdvance Board of Directors for eight years and is currently a member of the Penn State University SMEAL College of Business Board of Visitors. Schweiker received his B.S. from Bloomsburg University and his M.A. in management from Rider University.

About Renmatix

Renmatix is the leading producer of cellulosic sugars for the global renewable chemical and fuels markets. The company’s proprietary Plantrose™ process challenges conventional sugar economics by cheaply converting biomass – from woody biomass to agricultural residue – into useful, cost-effective sugars. Renmatix’s supercritical hydrolysis technology deconstructs non-food biomass an order of magnitude faster than other processes and enhances its cost advantage by using no significant consumables. Renmatix is privately held, with operations in Georgia (USA) currently capable of converting three dry tons of cellulosic biomass to Plantro™ sugar per day.
