Globalization and technological advancements have created immense economic opportunities for businesses and organizations worldwide. The world has become one. As a result, problems and issues are shared. They impact everyone. Dramatic changes within the global economic, political, and social forefront have caused many large companies to increase their focus on being socially responsible, adopting more sustainable behaviors, and producing more sustainable products. This major shift compels corporate actors to engage in major activities related to sustainability and social development, as part of their own, internal, core strategies. At the same time, the global economic reality is that profits still matter and being sustainable and socially responsible does not diminish market pressures to deliver profits.

As defined by Brundtland Report, “sustainable development satisfies the needs of the present generation without compromising the chance for future generations to satisfy theirs.” In addition, various environmental, social, cultural and economic factors come into play while designing and developing any sustainability related strategy or product. The concept of sustainability combines financial, ethical, legal and political issues that can be both internal and external to the company.

What the biobased industry needs desperately right now is a source of large-volume, low-cost carbon. That's what is really required to kick-start this Bio Age, and allow green technologies to truly flourish. A profitable solution that's sufficiently low-cost to let bio companies sprout in the face of incumbent sources and technology, and to establish large enough volumes to have a meaningful impact on the space.

And that’s us. That's what we bring to the table. We are influencing the future by providing the lowest-cost route to cellulosic sugar to enable an entirely new industry. One that can have a major and positive impact on the globe. Sugar really is the new oil. The exception is that the cost and pricing of Plantro sugars are less volatile than oil. Where oil is fractionated by refineries into fuels and chemicals, biomass can be fractionated in biorefineries in the same way. Just as whole barrel oil evolved, 'whole plant' economics are taking root just around the corner.

Plantrose technology is not restricted to a single supply or feedstock. We have tested and qualified many, many different types of plant material for conversion into sugars via our process, even cellulosic rich streams of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), and the results are consistently positive. This is a process technology that is simply tuned to the unique characteristics of the material that is being processed. We do not need to start from scratch, or develop a new enzyme that is compatible, each time we apply the technique to different material. Whatever it is, where ever it grows, odds are we can deconstruct it - economically and efficiently.
